The enlightenment consists of a mysterious light which the shaman suddenly feels in his body, inside his head, within the brain, an inexplicable searchlight, a luminous fire…for he can now, even with closed eyes, see through darkness and perceive things and coming events which are hidden from others: thus they look into the future and into the secrets of others.

The candidate obtains this mystical light after long hours of waiting, sitting on a bench in his hut and invoking the spirits. When he experiences it for the first time, it is as if the house in which he is suddenly rises, he sees far ahead of him, through mountains, exactly as if the earth were one great plain, and his eyes could reach to the end of the earth. Nothing is hidden from him any longer; not only can he see things far, far away, but he can also discover souls, stolen souls, which are either kept concealed in far, strange lands or have been taken up or down to the Land of the Dead. Most people do not know the spirit world. They know only the world they perceive through their five senses. However, when we directly relate to God in true love, we can cultivate our ten senses— the five physical senses and beyond them, the five spiritual senses. This will enable us to resonate with the spirit world.

People who only seek self-centered love cannot achieve it. Fallen love is dark; it is destruction itself. The more you immerse yourself in fallen love, the more darkness will envelop you. Cognition of spiritual reality begins when it is perceived through the five senses of the spirit self. These perceptions resonate through the five physical senses and are felt physiologically. Cognition of truth, on the other hand, arises from the knowledge gleaned from the physical world as it is perceived directly through our physiological sense organs. Cognition thus takes place through both spiritual and physical processes.

Human beings become complete only when their spirit self and physical self are unified. Hence, the experience of divine inspiration gained through spiritual cognition and the knowledge of truth obtained through physical cognition should become fully harmonized and awaken the spirituality and intellect together. It is only when the spiritual and physical dimensions of cognition resonate together that we can thoroughly comprehend God and the universe. 성경에 나오는 묵시록 같은 것은 아무것도 아닙니다. 선생님이 영계를 알기 때문에 상헌 씨를 영계에 보내서 세계의 사람들을 단시간 내에 복귀하기 위해서 영계의 실상을 보고하게 한 것입니다. 이것을 사실로 믿게 된다면 이 인류는 순식간에 자기의 갈 길을 다 정리하고 고개의 문턱을 넘어서게 됩니다. 그런데 이것을 믿을 수 있는 본성의 심성이 계발되어 있지 않았기 때문에 몸 마음이 하나로 공명 안 되는 것입니다.

그런 사람은 육신이 보는 세계밖에 모르고 영계를 모릅니다. 오관을 넘어 십관을 계발해 가지고 하나님과 더불어 직접적인 관계, 참사랑과 관계를 맺어야 공명되지, 자기들 사랑 가지고는 안 되는 것입니다. 타락한 사랑은 파괴입니다. 어둡습니다. 그 사랑은 하면 할수록 어두움에 묻혀서 절연체가 묻으면 전기가 통하지 않게 만드는 것과 마찬가지가 되는 것입니다. (399-220, 2002.12.24)

타락인간은 종교에 의하여 신령과 진리로써(요4:23) 그의 심령과 지능을 깨우쳐서 그의 내적인 무지를 타개하여 나간다. 그런데 진리에 있어서도 내적인 무지를 타개하는 종교에 의한 내적인 진리와 외적인 무지를 타개하는 과학에 의한 외적인 진리의 두 면이 있다. 따라서 지능에도 내적인 진리에 의하여 깨우쳐지는 내적인 지능과 외적인 진리에 의하여 깨우쳐지는 외적인 지능의 두 면이 있는 것이다. 그러므로 내적인 지능은 내적인 진리를 찾아 종교를 세워 나아가고, 외적인 지능은 외적인 진리를 찾아서 과학을 세워 나가는 것이다. 신령은 무형세계에 관한 사실들이 영적 오관에 의하여 영인체에 영적으로 인식되었다가 이것이 다시 육적 오관에 공명되어 생리적으로 인식되는 것이며, 진리는 유형세계로부터 직접 인간의 생리적인 감각기관에 의하여 인식되는 것이다. 따라서 인식도 영육 양면의 과정을 거쳐서 오게 된다.

인간은 영인체와 육신이 합해야만 완전한 인간이 되도록 창조되었기 때문에, 영적 과정에 의한 신령과 육적 과정에 의한 진리가 완전히 조화되어 심령과 지능이 아울러 깨우쳐짐으로써, 이 두 과정을 통해 온 양면의 인식이 완전히 일치될 때 비로소 인간은 하나님과 피조세계에 관하여 완전한 인식을 갖게 되는 것이다. 이와 같이 하나님은 타락으로 말미암아 무지에 빠진 인간으로 하여금 신령과 진리에 의하여 심령과 지능을 아울러 깨우치게 함으로써, 창조본연의 인간으로 복귀하여 나아가는 섭리를 하신다. 그런데 인간은 하나님의 이러한 복귀섭리의 시대적인 혜택을 받아서 그의 심령과 지능의 정도가 역사의 흐름에 따라 점차로 높아지게 되는 것이므로, 그를 깨우치기 위한 신령과 진리도 또한 점차로 그 정도를 높이 하지 않을 수 없는 것이다. 그러므로 신령과 진리는 유일하고 영원불변하지만, 무지한 상태로부터 점차 복귀되어 나아가는 인간에게 그것을 가르치시기 위한 범위나 그것을 표현하는 정도나 방법은 시대를 따라 달리 하시지 않을 수 없게 된다.
